2020.09.24 04:22 jbe151 VPN and home network help

New here and I’m not very network savvy. I have one big question. Will me having a vpn on my phone while using WiFi at home keep my friend from snooping and seeing my data? About 6 years ago he used an app on Android to get my data while I used his WiFi. Droid sheep was the name of it. I assume it’s been done away with now from what I read. But he managed to get all of my passwords from every account I’ve ever had or got on while at his house. He had my yahoo chats and messages on other accounts. He was in my email and everything. If vpn won’t keep him from seeing me what will?

2020.09.24 04:04 autotldr U.S. business activity slows, house price inflation accelerates

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 74%. (I'm a bot)
WASHINGTON - U.S. business activity cooled in September, with gains at factories offset by a retreat at services industries, suggesting a loss of momentum in the economy as the third quarter draws to a close and COVID-19 lingers.
Data firm IHS Markit said its flash U.S. Composite PMI Output Index, which tracks the manufacturing and services sectors, slipped to a reading of 54.4 this month from 54.6 in August.
Euro zone business growth ground to a halt this month amid a renewed downturn in the dominant services sector, a separate survey from IHS Markit showed on Wednesday.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a reading of 54.7 this month for the services sector, which accounts for more than two-thirds of the U.S. economy.
Economists had forecast the index for the sector, which accounts for 11% of the economy, holding at 53.1 this month.
"The shift from a few months with large increases across PMI components to more mixed results looks broadly consistent with many economic indicators that point to a loss of momentum lately following a period with widespread and robust gains as the economy started recovering from the virus-related shock," said Daniel Silver, an economist at JPMorgan in New York.

How You Can Help Contribute To This Post:
I've noticed that in this post (and across most posts in fantasyfootball) most of the comments ask for starting advice for your roster and there are already dedicated Index articles to answer those questions. Instead, focus on picking up/dropping players, ROS performance, fliers, matchup rankings, trends, etc. those will help out everyone instead of just your team. Also, the mods have locked this post before when the comments fill up with things that should go into the INDEX posts.
If you see any discrepancies between this post and the source articles please comment or upvote comments to get them to the top. I'll add updates to the title post to fix any errors or add updates.

2020.09.23 23:16 Brothanogood Dow Falls 500 Points as Fed Warns More Stimulus Needed

Stocks ended sharply lower Wednesday as central bank officials warned more fiscal stimulus was needed to rescue a struggling U.S. economy.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished down 525 points, or 1.92%, to 26,763, the S&P 500 was off 2.37% and the Nasdaq fell 3.02%.
Amazon.com (AMZN) - Get Report finished down 4.1%, and Alphabet (GOOGL) - Get Report declined 3.5%.
Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Richard Clarida, like Fed Chairman Jerome Powell before him, said the central bank believed “additional fiscal support will likely be needed” to lift the U.S. economy out of its coronavirus-related downturn.
Powell warned Tuesday in congressional testimony that a U.S. recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more than 200,000 Americans, "continues to be highly uncertain."
“The recovery will go faster if there’s support coming both from Congress and from the Fed,” Powell said.
Nike (NKE) - Get Report was the leading gainer on the Dow, rising 8.8%, after the sports apparel and equipment giant posted better-than-expected fiscal first-quarter earnings. Nike brand digital sales rose 82% overall in the quarter.
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) - Get Report was little changed at $144.43 after the healthcare giant said it started the final round of testing for its coronavirus vaccine candidate.
Johnson & Johnson said the single-shot dose, which will be tested on 60,000 trial participants, followed positive data from a Phase 2 trial.
The company reiterated its goal of producing and supplying more than 1 billion doses of the vaccine - should it be cleared by regulators - through the course of 2021. It aims to have a decision on the vaccine's effectiveness either later this year or in the first months of 2021.
Tesla (TSLA) - Get Report shares declined 10% to $380.36 after the electric-car maker's battery presentation disappointed investors.
CEO Elon Musk outlined his company’s ambitious battery manufacturing and cost-reduction goals but detailed how long it might take for those goals to be reached.
Musk said the cheaper and more efficient batteries ultimately will let Tesla "make a compelling $25,000 car that is also fully autonomous."
Tesla's Battery Day: A Rundown of What Was Revealed
The new batteries, however, will take a while to ramp up. Tesla said the 4680 batteries won't reach mass production until 2022. Tesla set goals of having 100 gigawatt-hours of annual production capacity by 2022, and 3 terawatt-hours of capacity by 2030.
Global stocks remain on course for their first monthly drop since March. Prior to Wednesday, the S&P 500 had declined 5.3% in September, while the Nasdaq had dropped nearly 7%.
Stock markets have traded lower the first three weeks of September on fears that rising coronavirus infections worldwide could lead to further lockdowns and a lack of another U.S. fiscal stimulus package.

2020.09.23 16:35 Fun-Palpitation81 Help with using Yahoo! Oauth2 authentication with Django

Hello everyone,
I've spent way too long trying to do this.
I am trying to implement Yahoo!'s Oauth2 authentication as a way to log into my web application.
I will use this as the login to my web app (as the web application will only be using Yahoo!'s API, which require the user to log in).
I can send the user the Oauth2 authentication page that Yahoo! serves up, but I have no idea how to store the tokens that Yahoo! gives so that the token can be used to request data from Yahoo! for the user.
As I said, I don't want to create "Users" using Django, and storing the token that way, as this will require the user to create an account, so I don't want to store the token in a database for each user.
Is there any way I can simply store the token in another way? Any information is greatly appreciated..

Yesterday this had a big catalyst (link below) and today we’re seeing a continuation. Might be a multi-day swing till it gets above $3

Median survival approximately two-fold higher in Ampligen arm compared to historical controls; AIM to seek FDA Fast Track designation and orphan drug status in late stage pancreatic cancer
Prof. van Eijck states, "The overall survival of the experimental group was compared to a large historical control cohort matched for age, gender, stage of disease, and number of cycles of Folfirinox chemotherapy. Median survival was approximately two-fold higher, that is 200%, in the Ampligen arm as compared to the historical controls. These results were obtained with a very high degree of statistical significance. Based on these data, I see the potential for Ampligen as a meaningful extension of the standard of care for advanced pancreatic cancer, which we are planning to investigate further." A detailed clinical report and an article for publication are being prepared by Prof. van Eijck and his team at Erasmus MC.
AIM CEO Thomas K. Equels states: "We started this program in January 2017. These exceptional results from Erasmus exceed even our most optimistic expectations.”
AIM will work with its Contract Research Organization, Amarex Clinical Research LLC, to seek FDA "fast-track" and possibly even FDA "breakthrough" designations and to obtain IND authorizations to conduct a follow-up pancreatic cancer Phase 2/3 clinical trial with sites in the Netherlands at Erasmus MC under Prof. van Eijck, and also at major cancer research centers in the United States. AIM also plans to file dual orphan drug status applications for use of Ampligen in the treatment of late-stage pancreatic carcinoma with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). If granted, this serves to extend a company's exclusivity rights once a drug reaches market.

2020.09.23 14:30 PeakedInHighSkool Reddit Adjusted Fantasy Football Trade Values Week 3: Bleach Shots Edition

Well that sucked. As both a Saquon and CMC owner (2 separate leagues), I did not have a great weekend. Plus, I was supposed to get married on Sunday, but the Covid also ruined that. Mostly the football thing though. There were some big changes this week. We saw a huge decrease in league wide RB depth. Hold you players and loved ones tight.
We have moved to a plane beyond tilting. Here are the trade values, look at them I guess.
TL:DR
Images:
Significant Updates:
Live google spreadsheet is going on my Pateron. Trying to run my script a couple of times a day to update values more often. Mostly post waivers when more data is available
I added more variables to the fuzzy match that should fix the names issue. Fingers-crossed
Method:
To generate trade values, I combine Harris football (still hasn’t updated) rankings with Fantasypro rankings and apply an algorithm I wrote based on historical values and trends. Next, I average these values with CBS and 4for4 values (if applicable) to normalize across the industry. Lastly, I apply a PPR correction factor and create the 0.5 PPR values as well. I generated my functions by using historical data, Reddit Trade threads, and the Yahoo trade market. My goal was to look for crossover points in 1 for 1 player positional trades to generate tiers and normalize across positions. My goal is to incorporate as many sources and experts as possible to eliminate or minimize bias. I have recently incorporated R scripts that use “fuzzy” matches to try and combine the player names. Each site uses slightly different variants and it causes issues. I am still working on it.
As I discussed previously, I believe the experts have a lot of bias towards the top, bottom, and between the positions. I check the comments on the expert's articles every week and see the disapproval and outright anger at some of the rankings. My goal was to try and adjust the values using crowd-sourced data (Reddit+Yahoo) to create better trade values.
Key Assumption:
12 team: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 TE/WRB.
FAQ:
“Where are the standard or PPR values? “
Answer: Change the tab or the spreadsheet, or scroll down on the image.
“What is the QB value in 2-QB leagues? “
Answer: Double the QB values and it will be close. I know it doesn’t capture the lower QB values, it is hard to find 2-QB data. So share sources if you find any!
“What does 10-team league do to values?”
Answer: Smaller league means higher-tiered players are worth more. Tiers 1-3 go up and tiers 6-7 have very little value.
“What about 3 WR leagues?”
Answer: WRs value increases due to a slight drop in scarcity
“Where are the defenses?
Answer: Defenses don’t matter to the experts. Hard to quantify
“Why is X player so low?”
Answer: Because you own them and god hates you
“How do I use this chart?”
Answer: Add player values on each side of the trade and compare for fairness. That simple.
"Did you mean to spell X wrong?"
Answer: No, spelling is hard. I do science and stuff
“What about Dynasty, bro?
Answer: I have some preliminary Dynasty Ranks with the aid of Pollsports.com. I will work more on it this year and in the offseason.
“What about keeper and draft picks?”
Answer: Great Question. I do not know. Keepers change the trade game. I do not factor them in. Draft picks are tough to quantify as well. I think you can estimate a pick value by averaging the values of the 12 players on the chart corresponding to the round. (Example average players 1-12 to get a first-round pick). Then, you would need to weight the value to include rest-of-season usage and uncertainty in the draft pick next year. So many 50% of the average is what I am guessing. All this is theory.
u/TheRealMonty used these values to build a website to help with trades. He is doing a lot to improve and expand the website. Check it out!
u/intersecting_lines is the user that made a chrome and firefox extension using these values. They are super helpful!
u/J_smooth is running his great site at Pollsports.com that has been super useful for my dynasty ranks! You can also ping me to vote on your specific polls.
u/sqaudfam is also using these values on his website, yufafootball.com, to create a power rankings tool
If you are interested in extra ranks and/or updated/continuous ranks, including injury update; support me on Patreon (patreon.com/Peakedinhighskool). Proceeds go to crippling student loan debt

VBA newbie here. Would like to edit the VBA so it will update/refresh the data in an existing sheet instead of updating the 'Data' sheet. (Ex. AAPL data should be updated to the 'AAPL') sheet. Would be great if is just an update/refresh in a defined range in the sheet to allow for other formulas to run.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

2020.09.23 10:25 Sad_Row2024 YT is awesome

Consequences for qualities and principles

YouTube was remembered for Entertainment Weekly's "100 Greatest" list in 2009—however with the unexpected commendation, "a sheltered home for piano-playing felines, celeb goof-ups, and exuberant lip-synchers since 2005". In 2010, refering to YouTube's then most saw video Charlie Bit My Finger to act as an illustration of watchers not picking what may have generally been judged "quality", Advertising Age columnist Michael Learmonth declared that for data and diversion the Internet had both killed and re-imagined the idea of quality.Learmonth contemplated that online news-casting, being founded on "extraordinarily reduced financial matters and desires", is naturally off base and a de-professionalized adaptation of disconnected journalism. In this vein, GroupM's CEO was cited as saying there appeared to be a greater premium on prominence than authority. Concerning these wonders, the CEO of Associated Content (presently Yahoo! Voices) said that individuals are progressively open to getting data from new sources, and that quality had come to spin around appropriately coordinated helpfulness as opposed to being chosen by professionals. Conversely, in 2012 the top of YouTube's modifying procedure Ben Relles was cited as saying that most popular recordings were scripted creations that didn't become famous online fortunately, and that "the poetics of YouTube favor genuineness over creation values."

Individual association and personality

YouTube:

The most open spot on the planet, from the protection from our own homes: YouTube has been utilized for some things: a political soapbox, an entertainer's stage, a strict lectern, an instructor's platform, or only an approach to contact the nearby neighbor or over the world. To individuals we love, to individuals we need to love, or individuals we don't have the foggiest idea.

Michael Wesch, 2008

"An Anthropological Introduction to YouTube"

In 2008, social anthropologist Michael Wesch saw that both YouTube vloggers and their watchers can encounter a significant feeling of association, the separation and obscurity between them empowering them to maintain a strategic distance from the compelling impact of traditional normal practices, (for example, not gazing at people). This feeling of association is said to happen in a time of "social reversal" in which we are headed to communicate our independence and freedom, yet still worth network and relationships.

In 2011, Willow Scobie stated the anthropological centrality of YouTube and noted proof of a "groundbreaking experience" for certain individuals, and that some could really recognize similar to a "YouTuber".

Interruption of ordinary media

Examining music real time features, music pundit Chris Richards wrote in The Washington Post that YouTube, "a webpage that never truly expected to turn into a music stage(,) unintentionally turned into our most visited, most variegated music platform". In Richards' view, it accomplished this viewership by "situat(ing) a bit of music, and the listening experience, in the more noteworthy setting of all media, all experience"— alluding to the assortment of substance experienced through its "Up Next" algorithm. Crediting YouTube's versatile openness, huge library size, visuality, conveyability, on-request accommodation, and commitment through remarks, Richards called the site's billion+ music guests every month "an unusual victory for an organization so anxious to obsolesce our TVs".

2020.09.23 01:49 phantomdripx Seeking Alpha through Insight - what tools/models/datapoints?

Like all of us, I’m trying to gain an advantage when investing, wishing I had that next best piece of insight, using services like Yahoo Finance, TradingView, Finviz etc to understand the data and stats that drive the stocks.
What other services, or features that aren’t readily available in these platforms should I look out for?
Of course, I'm not expecting you to spout your secrets, but should I be looking at ML-Based stats, technicals, what moves the needle for you?

2020.09.22 23:23 RemarkableTry9 Shopify announces data breach

shopify data breach
According to the article, fewer than 200 Shopify (SHOP) merchants have been affected by a data breach, which the e-commerce giant says was a result of “two rogue members” on a support team who “engaged in a scheme to obtain customer transactional records of certain merchants.”
Shopify added this was not a result of technical issues or vulnerabilities and that “the vast majority of merchants using Shopify are not affected.” As of October 2019, Shopify had one million merchants using its platform.
“Complete payment card numbers or other sensitive personal or financial information were not part of this incident,” Shopify said.
Currently down 1.70% in the aftermarket after gaining 2.84%.
More to come.

**Disclosure: This information does not constitute an offer to sell or a solicitation of offers to buy any securities of KULR. My family has invested in KULR and I'm personally acting as a consultant for KULR and have been compensated in shares for that role. I'm not a licensed financial professional. I have performed extensive research on the Company and believe KULR has real potential to displace conventional thermal management or "cooling" solutions for the electronics and battery industries. This is my opinion and you should always perform your own complete due diligence before making any investment decision. There is obviously risk of loss when buying or selling securities and generally even greater risk associated with buying or selling micro-cap stocks. Some real challenges faced by micro-cap companies include raising capital, increasing liquidity, attracting institutional investors, gaining analyst coverage, and general mistrust of the micro-cap market. Micro-cap companies also tend to lack in resources and often struggle to commercialize their products or services in a meaningful way.

2020.09.22 20:11 ThatFantasyNameGuy I created a webapp to help find new fantasy football team names. Feedback appreciated!

xpost from fantasyfootball
In my spare time I build things. I created Fantasy Name Search (fantasynamesearch.com) to help managers find new team names based on their current roster of players or any other key terms. I wrote everything in Python and used the pool of Yahoo's 2019 public leagues as source data for all 500,000 team names. I hope you find it somewhat useful in finding a new team name, if not just for fun to find the most outrageous team names. Let me know what you think!
For those more programmatically literate, I wrote an article describing the guts of the project and process in a little more detail: https://medium.com/swlh/in-search-of-a-fantasy-football-name-5656e8af5944
GitHub Repo: https://github.com/bbenbenek/FantasyNameSearch (updated as code is cleaned up)
